Warning: If you have not watched UP, then this would be a spoiler.
Today she wed the quiet man whom she first met in her little hideaway. So excited was she that at the moment the priest announced that they are now husband and wife, she leapt to his arms and gave him the first among many kisses that were to come in their wedded life. Her part of the family almost cheered the house down while his side of the family though happy was subdued. She chuckled; they are so like him - man of few words but oh how much she loves him.
Gabe and I went to catch UP last weekend. I love it so much especially the above clip. Yes, I am a hopeless romantic. :p However more than romance, it was its simplicity that caught my heart.
Carl and Ellie didn’t have much in terms of material but they had lots of love and support. I love how they would have picnics in the park, lie down on the mat and talk…well, Ellie talked most of the time. Haha! But oh just see Carl’s face – a look of absolute contentment and satisfaction. I bet he’s thinking in his heart: I love this woman.
When Ellie has a miscarriage, he must have been sad too but I love how he stood in support of her. As she sat in the lawn, he came and gave her a fresh new dream – a trip to South America.
I smiled at the couple’s dedication to save some money for the trip. Life seem to always get in the way for their dreams to come true yet they just shrugged, smiled and start afresh. How I love that spirit of optimism.
Even when they grew old, they were still as love struck as they were when they first got married. I love their faces of love as they gazed at each other. Even at the old age, they continued to dance and to hold hands. I think the greatest testimony (besides Jesus) of love is when an elderly couple hold hands. It signifies that instead of growing apart, they are growing together.
My heart dance to the tune of love. In the world shattered by divorces and brokeness, this short clip breath life to the dream once more – that love can still be everlasting.
